CrossFit Thump

Open Letter

TO- CrossFit Family at Thump

This is just an open letter of sorts so you, the athlete at Thump CrossFit have an idea of the programming we will be doing. CrossFit is the combination of three disciplines, cardiovascular endurance, gymnastics and Olympic Weightlifting. The programming at Thump will touch on all three phases of CrossFit. While the Olympic Weightlifting may have been glossed over in the past that will no longer be the case. It is a discipline that is absolutely necessary to developing speed, power and strength. We will be reviewing the Olympic Lifts stressing form and safety. A good solid technique is required for a safe and dynamic lift. We will always stress safety at Thump CrossFit whether it is a gymnastic movement or a weight lifting one. The programming will be geared towards improving you in the physical skills required by CrossFit. We will be learning skills and techniques that may seem trivial to you, however these are necessary for balance, agility, and co-ordination. The idea is to provide you with the proper stimulus to improve yourselves. Some of these skills while difficult serve a purpose. One of the wonderful things about CrossFit is its wide variety of exercises to provide the body with the needed stimulus to get results. While you find yourself breezing through a movement one day the next you may be struggling to grasp a movement that your teammate is finding easy. All I require from you is that you do not get frustrated and that you do not give up on me. I want to develop a fun atmosphere in the classes but make no mistake that I also want your best effort. I want a culture of hard work to be present from the very beginning and that means it must come from you, the core of what will be our CrossFit family at Thump. I encourage you to be friendly and supportive of your teammate standing next to you. We start the WOD’s as a team and finish them together as well. Encourage each other, support each other and most importantly have fun and enjoy the workouts. I will give you my best and in return I ask you for high intensity and a desire to want to work hard, in short please give me your best effort. I encourage those interested to compete in team WOD’s or as individuals in upcoming CrossFit competitions. There will be rough patches for us ahead but remember that the programming is designed to improve you as an athlete as well as to give you a great workout. I want you to also learn new skills and techniques. I am excited to start developing a CrossFit family at our Box at Thump; I know we have a great nucleus of fun and dedicated people. I thank you for the chance you are giving me to provide you with some Great CrossFit.

Sincerely,
